Language Myths
Edited by Laurie Bauer&Peter Trudgill
In this spring 2013 semester, I take ENGL 3132 Class. It is named "Introduction to Contemporary American English" and its professor is Dr. Rebecca Roeder. This course let students know theoretical English such as a phonetics, phonology, semantics, pragmatics, syntax and as well discuss the widespread misconceptions of language. This class is very helpful for me to see a language objectively without previous stereotypes I firmly had in my head. The "Language Myths" is a supplemental book for the class and it includes 21 myths of language. In this section, I will deal with two main myths I have read before. I hope readers also have a chance to discuss those myths.
